Life Unplugged - Holiday Cheer.

26 December Ayesha Farhad 13 Comments

I kind of skipped November's life unplugged because I needed a break. Blogging is so overwhelming and time-consuming that I really need to take a break. But however, I am back with my Life Unplugged post with all the holiday cheer that just made December the best ever.
Christmas Jumper Day obviously was right after the snow day. We do love Rudolph!
Living in London, you have the best view for Christmas. Wherever you go, you can't miss the holiday beat. And for the first time in 5 years, it snowed like a dream. It was my first snowfall ever and we did make the most of it even though we woke up really really late.

We got into the festive spirit by doing some craft activity. River Island had a design a T-shirt activity going on and we decided to get on board! They sent us a package with a plain white shirt and some crafting bits including pom poms, glitter, pipe cleaners etc. So for the longest time, I was so stuck on what to do and that's when Pinterest came in handy (Y'all can call me a Pinterest mom). Rudolph the reindeer was the safest bet. I think, I can safely say, we did really well and I might be looking forward to more craft activities with him.

Hallmark was kind enough to send us a generous package of Christmas cards and their limited edition itty bittys. Christmas was sorted! There were actually so many card varieties that everyone who received the cards really really loved them! Especially his teachers who actually showed the cards to rest of the children as well. Love it when something so small yet thoughtful makes someone smile.

Even though I am a Muslim, I love getting into the holiday spirit and its a debated topic for many but I tend to ignore it. We do receive Eid Mubarak cards from friends and neighbours and there is absolutely no harm in spreading a little love and creating a tolerant atmosphere. And even though we don't exchange gifts on Christmas day, we end up doing it during Eid and it is the best thing ever. We did, however, end up on the sofa, unable to move after the beauty of a roast dinner that got demolished within minutes. And now, we are just patiently waiting for our Boxing Day purchases to be delivered.

Hope you all had a Merry little Christmas! Would love to hear about how your Christmas went!

  6. It seems like you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas. I live in dubai and have done all my life and never see Christmas has having anything to do with religion. My friends have always celebrated Christmas with me and we celebrate eid with them, any excuse to eat and celebrate really!

  7. Thank you so much for this post. It really made me happy to know that you celebrate and take part in the festivities of Christmas. I believe religion is not divisive, it is instead about having faith in a God that unites peoples across all races. Peace, love, respect. May you have a blessed season.
