Winter Makeup Essentials for Oily Skin.

What comes to your mind when you think of winter? Snow covered mountains? Cosy jumpers and hot cocoa? But what comes to the mind of a beauty lover? Makeup and how to handle the skin that changes its texture and oil levels.

With every season comes a different state of makeup essentials. For spring and autumn, you can still make do but summer and winter are the two seasons when your skin and makeup is put to the real test. For me, winter has to be the most difficult. My makeup application changes and so does a few bits from my vanity. I might contradict some opinions but instead of going all matte during winters, I like to have a little bit of a glossy touch on my face while during summer, I prefer to go matte.

Here are a few of my winter makeup essentials that have been constant saviours.

Moisturiser: Clinique Moisture Surge & Liz Earle Skin Repair:

These two have been constants for the past few years. No matter how many moisturisers I try, Liz Earle is the brand that I will keep going back to. I can't seem to fault anything in this. The moisturiser is lightweight and doesn't feel heavy on my skin and doesn't seem to disturb the oil levels in my skin.
While the Clinique surge is something that I use when my skin is particularly very dry and I have been spending a lot of time indoors while the heating is cranked up. It makes my skin super hydrated and moisturised but I also make sure when I do use this, I apply a light coverage foundation. I don't want my makeup to melt off even during the winter season.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Foundation:

This foundation has literally become my holy grail. I can not fault it. Previously I was using Massrat Misbah's Silk Foundation but for some reason, it doesn't stay well during winters? Like I can see it breaking on my nose after a few hours. But the Fenty foundation is the only foundation that I have used throughout the entire year. Come snow or shine, it has stayed true to its working. The best part is, even though it has a medium to full coverage, with a little bit of added moisturiser, you can make it light coverage and that works best for me during winters! I am in the shade 208 for reference.

The Body Shop Drop of Glow Illuminator:

This has to be one of the best buys for me in 2018! It gives an absolutely healthy glow. The 'i-drink-kale-spinach-smoothie-everyday' kind of glow. The glow that comes from within! On days when I do very very minimal makeup, I apply this on my cheekbones and don't top it off with a highlighter! It's fab, really! It doesn't even make your pores look big, unlike a few illuminators that I have tried previously.

MAC Prep + Prime Fix plus:

Who doesn't know about this? This is one of the OG products that has ever infiltrated the beauty industry! However, many people don't realise that it isn't a setting spray. I was one of those people. I topped it off as a setting spray one day and my face looked like an oil site. The purpose of fix plus is to set your foundation. So you can use it before you apply your foundation or after you apply your foundation but before you set it with a powder. It locks in your foundation so well that it looks like skin. Another tip that I have learned from my sister is that you can spray it on your brush before you apply your highlighter and it will give your highlight that oomph factor that everyone likes!

MAC Russian Red:

This is the classic red shade that EVERYONE should have in their makeup bags! I always seem to reach for Russian Red during winter months. Because I usually end up wearing black or really dark colours during the winter months, Russian Red makes my whole look stand out! Its soft, it is creamy, it doesn't crease on your lips, its a lip essential.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Mirror Mirror:

Most times we usually forget to moisturise our lips. No matter how amazing you look, when you talk to a person, their attention is going to go to your lips directly. Make sure that you always always moisturise your lips before even applying moisturiser to your face. This vaseline Lip therapy by far has to be my favourite because not only does fix your lips, it gives a slight tint to it (giving it that Anne Hathaway lip effect) and it tastes good as well!

Hope this helps you lot! - Cheers!
